Update: Maruti Suzuki has decided to sell the new Ertiga from Arena dealerships and not Nexa dealerships. Read in detail about it here. The new Ertiga will NOT be sold from Nexa dealerships.
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the second-gen Ertiga in India close to Diwali 2018 and sources in the know have informed us that the MPV will now be retailed from Maruti’s Nexa dealership channels and not the regular Arena network of showrooms. That would make it the fifth car to be sold through the Nexa network after the Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and the S-Cross.
The new Ertiga, which made its world debut in Indonesia in April 2018, is underpinned by Suzuki’s latest Heartect platform, which it shares with cars such as the Baleno, Swift, Dzire and the Ignis. Compared to the outgoing first-gen model, the new Ertiga is longer, wider and taller. And since the wheelbase is identical, the increased length should result in a comparatively spacious third-row. Apart from its new platform and design, the highlight of the Ertiga would be its new 1.5-litre diesel engine. Recently, a test mule was spotted with a 6-speed manual transmission indicating that the new MPV might debut Maruti’s long awaited 1.5-litre diesel, which will eventually replace the Fiat-borrowed 1.3-litre motor.
The petrol engine, on the other hand, is confirmed to be a 1.5-litre engine, which is also new and made its debut with the MPV in Indonesia. Like the 2018 Ciaz facelift, the Ertiga too is likely to feature Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS tech with the 1.5-litre petrol engine. The expected 1.5-litre diesel could also feature the same, making both the versions of the Ertiga greener!

We expect the Ertiga to borrow some of the features from the new Swift and Dzire. While that would make the package more premium, the new engines will make the MPV more powerful, thereby making it more suitable for the Nexa chain.
