Honda will be launching the 2019 Civic today at prices expected to range from Rs 17 lakh to Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be offered in three variants and will get both petrol and diesel engine options.
The tenth-gen Civic first debuted in 2016 and received a facelift near the end of 2018, which is the latest model. Honda had discontinued the Civic from India around six years ago and has now brought it back as the tenth-gen midlife freshed model. The diesel option with the Civic is a first for India - the same 1.6-litre engine from the Honda CR-V, mated to a 6-speed manual only, good for 120PS and 300Nm. There will also be the familiar 1.8-litre petrol engine, but with a 7-step CVT this time around. The CVT comes with paddle-shifters and the engine develops 141PS of max power and 174Nm of peak torque.

The 2019 Honda Civic will get a long list of features especially in the top-spec ZX variant including segment-leading tech like Honda Lane Watch which displays a live feed of the rear-left on to the central screen, along with remote engine and AC start (only for the petrol). It has a three-part instrument cluster with a digital 7-inch MID in the centre. The 2019 Civic will also offer features like an electric sunroof, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control and safety tech like vehicle stability control and six airbags too.
Bookings for the new Civic had officially commenced in mid-February and it has begun rolling off the production line in Greater Noida. Once launched, the Honda Civic will renew its rivalry with the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra in the sedan segment.
