Which of these two entry level hatchbacks have a more likeable cabin?
Renault Kwid had certainly set benchmarks in terms of space and features in the entry-level hatchback segment. However, it now has competition in the form of Maruti S-Presso. While a comprehensive comparison is on the way, for now we’ll be pitting the cabin of the two cars together to find out which one you’d like to spend longer hours in.
Dashboard: Both cars have an all-black dashboard colour scheme but where the S-Presso gets funky body color-coded accents, the Kwid uses classier-looking piano black finish for the central console.
Steering wheel: The Kwid gets its leather-wrapped sportier-looking unit, whereas the S-Presso’s borrows its from the WagonR and the Ignis. Both cars get a three-spoke unit but only the Maruti gets steering-integrated controls for Bluetooth and telephony.
Touchscreen: Kwid takes the cake here with an 8-inch unit from the Triber whereas the S-Presso makes do with a 7-inch unit from the WagonR. Both get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well. But the Kwid packs rearview camera support as well which is missing in the Maruti.
Instrument cluster: The digital instrument cluster is a standard fitment here but the S-Presso’s is uniquely placed over the touchscreen in the central console. The Kwid has it conventionally placed but gets an integrated dot matrix screen as well.
Air con vents: The S-Presso gets body colour boded surrounds for the vents on extreme ends whereas the Kwid has them with chrome. Central vents look plain jane in comparison but carry a similar shape and size in both the cars.
AMT shift: Both the cars get a 5-speed AMT as option but where the S-Presso gets regular stick for shifting, the Kwid uses a rotary dial.
Seats: Both cars use fabric upholstery for seats and skimp on adjustable headrests.
Rear row: Top RXT(O) variant of the Renault Kwid (picture not available as of now) get the power windows (optional), rear armrest as well. There’s no such option on the Maruti S-Presso. Both the cars offer non adjustable headrests.
