Will the new Hyundai i20 that packs several segment-firsts manage to play the price card well?

Hyundai is ready to launch the third-gen Hyundai i20 in the next few days. Bookings are already underway for a sum of Rs 21,000 through Hyundai’s online as well as offline mediums. If you are interested in adding one to your garage, these expected prices should come in handy. Before anything else, let’s take a look at the engine options and specifications:

The i20 will offer the most number of powertrain options in its class. Both the petrol engines will offer a choice of automatic transmission while the diesel will only be available with a manual. The entry-level variant of the 1.0-litre turbo petrol is likely to command a bit more premium as it’s only available with an iMT (clutchless manual transmission). This is also the only engine to get a sophisticated dual-clutch transmission option in the segment.
The upcoming i20 will be available in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). Now, let’s look at the premium Hyundai could expect you to dole out for its new hatch.

Expect introductory pricing initially which will be increased after a few months. Hyundai is likely to charge around Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 for the dual-tone shades.
The i20 could be the most feature-loaded car in the segment. It will get all-LED lighting, sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, semi-digital instrument cluster, air purifier, connected tech and ambient lighting. Safety will be taken care of by six airbags, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control. Let’s look at the rival price range before signing off:
