While the Tata Nexon packs a lot more in terms of features, the Brezza still has its advantages, like a CNG option
The Maruti Brezza has been one of the most sought-after subcompact SUVs in India since its introduction in 2016, frequently topping the monthly sales chart. Its closest competitor, the Tata Nexon, came out in 2017, and recently got a big refresh. Even the Maruti SUV got a generation upgrade in mid-2022, which made it an even bigger offering along with more features. While the Nexon, in recent times, has bested the Brezza in terms of sales, it has done it by clubbing the sales of its EV version as well and comes with a diesel option too. Meanwhile, the latter is only offered with one petrol engine.
While we already brought to you what the 2023 Tata Nexon offers over the Maruti Brezza, let’s now check out the key differences and benefits the Maruti SUV has to offer over the new Tata Nexon:
Heads-up Display
The Brezza is the only sub-4m SUV to get a heads-up display. It relays information such as fuel level, speed, gear position indicator (only on automatic transmission variants), time, and mileage. Maruti is offering this feature only on the fully loaded ZXi+ trim of the Brezza.
A CNG Option
In early 2023, the Brezza became the first subcompact SUV to get a CNG powertrain. While there have been reports about the Nexon getting a CNG option too, its absence for now gives the Maruti SUV an advantage in the segment. The Maruti Brezza CNG can be had in three variants – LXi, VXi, and ZXi – priced from Rs 9.24 lakh to Rs 12.15 lakh.

More Efficient Petrol-auto Combo
The Maruti Brezza is only available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine (103PS/137Nm), which comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

More Affordable Petrol Automatic Option
Not only is the Maruti Brezza automatic more frugal than the Tata Nexon petrol-automatic options, it’s also more accessible.

Even though the Maruti SUV offers a more sophisticated automatic transmission, it undercuts the Nexon petrol-AMT starting option by Rs 56,000.
Traditional vs Modern Design
The Maruti Brezza and the Tata Nexon facelift sport unique looks, appealing to different types of buyers. While the updated Nexon is full of sharp details, creases and a sloped roofline, the Brezza has the boxy shape of a typical SUV. It has a clean and sober design all around, highlights being the wraparound LED taillights and dual-tone alloy wheels.
The 2023 Nexon, on the other hand, gets modern touches to its design in the form of connected taillights, sleeker headlights and sharper alloy wheels.
