7 SUVs You Can Bring Home Before 2023 Ends

The Renault Kiger is the most affordable SUV on this list which also includes one electric SUV in the form of the MG ZS EV

We are barely a few weeks away from welcoming 2024 but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy a new car now. In fact, many of you may even be planning on getting an SUV home in the remainder of 2023, and rightly so with the various benefits that could be on offer. Having said that, only some SUVs are available with no or less than a month’s waiting in at least top eight Indian cities this December.

It’s also important to note that almost all of these SUVs are likely to get costlier from January 2024, making this the only time to buy them without the premium. So let’s check them out:

Renault Kiger

Price Range: Rs 6.50 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh

Available in 2 weeks or less in: Pune, Chennai, Jaipur, Gurugram, Lucknow, Thane, Surat, Patna, and Noida

• The Renault Kiger is the carmaker’s most affordable SUV in India.

• The Kiger is offered with two petrol engine options: a 1-litre naturally aspirated unit (72 PS/96 Nm) and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (100 PS/160 Nm). Both are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The former can be had with an optional 5-speed AMT, while the latter comes with a CVT.

• Renault has equipped it with an 8-inch touchscreen system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, and a PM2.5 air filter. Safety is taken care of by up to 4 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

MG Astor

Price Range: Rs 10.82 lakh to Rs 18.69 lakh

Available in 2 weeks or less in: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Ghaziabad, Coimbatore, and Noida

• The MG Astor is the carmaker’s most affordable SUV in India.

• MG offers the Astor with two engine options: a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine (140 PS/220 Nm) and a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine (110 PS/144 Nm). The former is mated only to a 6-speed automatic, while the latter gets 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic.

• Its features and safety list includes a 10-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, a 6-way powered driver seat, up to six airbags, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Skoda Kushaq

Price Range: Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 20 lakh

Available in 2 weeks or less in: New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, Kolkata, Thane, Surat, Ghaziabad, Patna, and Faridabad

• The Skoda Kushaq, which is the platform sibling of the VW Taigun, is readily available in exactly 10 top Indian cities this December.

• It has two turbo-petrol units on offer: a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (115 PS/178 Nm) and the other a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit (150 PS/250 Nm). While a 6-speed MT is available as standard with both, the former gets an optional 6-speed AT while that for the latter is a 7-speed DCT.

• The Kushaq gets a 10-inch touchscreen, ventilated and powered front seats, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and a reversing camera.

Volkswagen Taigun

Price Range: Rs 11.62 lakh to Rs 19.46 lakh

• The Volkswagen Taigun is the entry-level SUV offering in the German marque’s Indian portfolio.

• Volkswagen has provided the Taigun with two turbo-petrol engines: a 1-litre engine (115 PS/178 Nm) paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.5-litre engine (150 PS/250 Nm) mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).

• Its headlining features include a 10-inch touchscreen, a sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless phone charging, and ambient lighting. Volkswagen has equipped it with up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), TPMS, and a reversing camera.

MG ZS EV

Price Range: Rs 22.88 lakh to Rs 26 lakh

Available in 2 weeks or less in: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Ghaziabad, Coimbatore, and Noida

• The MG ZS EV is the carmaker’s second SUV and the only EV offering to be a part of this list.

• It gets a 50.3 kWh battery pack with an electric motor (177 PS/280 Nm). The MG EV has a claimed range of 461 km.

• MG has provided it with a panoramic sunroof, a 10-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and ADAS.

Volkswagen Tiguan

Price: Rs 35.17 lakh

Available in 2 weeks or less in: Pune, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Thane, Surat, Chandigarh, Patna, Indore, and Noida

• The Volkswagen Tiguan is the flagship SUV offering from the German carmaker in India, which can be taken home immediately in cities like Pune, Kolkata, Thane, Surat, and Noida.

• It is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine (190 PS/320 Nm), driving all the four wheels via a 7-speed DCT.

• The Tiguan comes with an 8-inch touchscreen system, a digital driver’s display, 3-zone climate control, 6 airbags, ESC, TPMS, and a rear parking camera.

Skoda Kodiaq

Price Range: Rs 38.50 lakh to Rs 39.99 lakh

Available in 2 weeks or less in: New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, Kolkata, Thane, Surat, Ghaziabad, Patna, and Faridabad

• The Skoda Kodiaq is the most premium and the only 7-seater SUV on the list, with a waiting period of up to 2 weeks in cities such as New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Patna.

• Propulsion duty is carried out by the same powertrain as the VW Tiguan, and it also has an all-wheel drivetrain (AWD).

• Features on board include an 8-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and nine airbags.
