The Hyundai Venue stands out for its segment-first features, be it now or back when it was first launched and continues to offer one of the most well rounded packages in its class

Hyundai entered the subcompact SUV segment in 2019 with the Venue, and it came with a modern design, multiple engine options, and most importantly, a host of features, many of which were first in the segment. The carmaker knows how to push boundaries, and keeps on engaging its customers by offering the latest technology, and here you can see 7 things that the Venue introduced to the segment.

4-way Powered Driver Seat

When driving, comfort and convenience behind the steering wheel is one of the most important things, and Hyundai knows that. So, in 2022, with the facelift, the Venue got a 4-way powered driver’s seat, which was first in the segment. This feature boosts the convenience factor by allowing you to find the perfect driving position with powered adjustments. Soon after, some of its competitors also started to follow the trend set by Hyundai.

A Sporty N Line Variant

People have been customising their car for years but getting a new paint option and getting cosmetic modifications done in the country is a hassle. So, Hyundai decided to offer their SUV in a sportier-looking N Line version, which not only looks sportier from the standard version, but also gets a stiffer suspension setup along with a tweaked exhaust note for all the enthusiasts out there.

Let’s Stay Connected

In this day and age, our phone, laptop, tablet, and smartwatch are all connected with each other, so it only makes sense to connect our car with our phone for easier access to functions and more convenience. Hyundai knew it way back in 2019, when it first launched the Venue, and it was one of the first cars in India to come with connected car tech, which has only gotten better with time.

This feature allows you to access certain of the car’s features from the convenience of your phone such as pre-cooling / heating, viewing vital stats and even safety such as geo fencing. Another trend was set by Hyundai, and now almost every car from every brand comes with this feature.

3 Engine Options

Many carmakers in this segment offered their cars with both petrol and diesel engine options, but it was Hyundai which introduced the Venue with not one or two, but with three engine options. It has a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine for those who want better fuel efficiency. But, for the enthusiasts who love to drive, Hyundai offers the Venue with a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, that too with an option of a DCT (dual-clutch transmission), for added convenience and an additional sporty feel.

iMT For More Convenience

5 Things You Should Know About Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT)

If you have driven an AMT, you must have felt the jerky drive and slow gear shifts, something that can have a negative impact on your drive experience. A solution to this was brought to the segment by Hyundai in 2019, which offered an iMT (intelligent manual transmission) with the first iteration of the Venue, where the clutch was electronically operated and the driver has to shift gears manually like any other stick shifter.

ADAS

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) once used to be a feature of high-end premium and luxury cars, and even the Indian cars it came in, were priced over Rs 20 lakh. Hyundai added Level-1 ADAS in the Venue last year, and it became the first car in its segment to come with this safety tech. Soon after, other brands started to offer ADAS with their subcompact SUVs, but to this date, Venue is still one of the most affordable SUVs in India to offer this feature.

Split LED Headlamps

Lastly, Hyundai also introduced a split headlamp setup in the segment with the Venue, which shows that the brand not only makes strides in terms of features, but also focuses on improving the design of the cars we get in India. Since its introduction in the Venue, this design element has become very popular, and can now be seen in most new cars.

These were the 7 things the Hyundai Venue introduced in its segment, and as time goes, we hope it continues to set new standards with its upcoming updates. The Venue is priced between Rs 7.94 lakh to Rs 13.53 lakh (ex-showroom).
