A cut price Ambition variant of 2012 Skoda Superb coming soon

The auto maker from Czech Republic, Skoda is all prepared to gift the Indian car market a cut price variant of their chief luxury sedan Skoda Superb soon. This cut-price variant is supposed to be the entry-level variant of the luxurious saloon Superb. The new 2012 variant will be Ambition trimmed and will be an addition to the line-up of Skoda Superb sedan cars. The Ambition variant of the Superb will be available in both petrol and diesel versions, the two engine options are 1.8-liter turbo petrol that drives a peak power of 160 BHP and a peak torque of 250 Nm and the 2-liter turbo diesel TDI engine pumping out a peak power of 140 BHP and a peak torque of 320 Nm.

Since the Ambition variant is a cut price version, a lot of features will be chucked out from this model. The excluded features are the electric sunroof, the touch-screen centre console, ESP, the hill hold/hill descent feature and the Bi-Xenon cornering headlights. The diesel engine of the Ambition variant is coupled with a 6 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with triptonic manual mode and the petrol engine is coupled with a 6 speed manual gearbox.

In addition to the Ambition variant, there is another variant of the Skoda Superb which has been given the Elegance trim by Skoda India. As the name suggests the Elegance variant comes with loads of elegant features among which the keyless entry tops the list. There is also a sop start system in the 2012 model. The engine specs of the Elegance variant are impressive too. There is a 1.8-liter TSI engine with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic DSG gearbox. The 2.0-liter TDI engine will be coupled with a 6-speed automatic DSG gearbox. The high end 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine will be coupled with a 6-speed automatic DSG gearbox and will be driving a peak power of 260 BHP and a peak torque of 350 Nm.
