Slightly Reduced Output
Tata has equipped the Altroz CNG with a 1.2-litre petrol engine (73.5PS/103Nm), mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In petrol mode, it makes 88PS and 115Nm. The carmaker has also provided this powertrain with a “start up in CNG mode” feature, not offered by any rival in the CNG space.
USPs Of The Altroz CNG
Perhaps, the headlining characteristic of the Altroz CNG is its in the boot. Tata has come out with an industry-first twin-cylinder technology – which has allowed it to split the total tank capacity into two cylinders – both of which are placed under the cargo area. This allows occupants to use the 210 litres of space available to carry their luggage.
Another unique proposition for the Altroz CNG is that it is being offered with a single-pane sunroof, which is a first for the moniker and still missing from its other powertrain options. Apart from that, it gets the same set of equipment as the standard model, including a 7-inch touchscreen unit, dual front airbags, auto climate control, and a reversing camera. However, it is the first premium hatchback that offers the CNG powertrain with its fully-loaded variant. This gives it niceties like the leatherette upholstery, 16-inch alloy wheels, and wireless charging pad.
Whom Does It Go Up Against?
The Altroz CNG is a rival to the Maruti Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG.
