The luxury car giant of German origins, Audi has recently surmounted the sales of the leading luxury car maker BMW in April 2012. This has happened for the first in quite some time now and this impressive growth in sales is a result of extraordinary performance and subsequent demand of Audi cars in the volume generating markets of China, Russia and United States. The company statistics reveal that in the month of April an increase of 14.4 percent to 125,200 units has been viewed by Audi cars and Sports Utility Vehicles together.
On the other hand, the sale in the month of April 2012 for BMW cars and SUV saw an increase of just 7.4 percent to 121,476 units. In January 2011, Audi outshined BMW in terms of car sales; BMW was then striving to reach the number one position in the list of luxury car makers around the world. BMW did achieve its goal by outperforming Mercedes Benz which too is a Germany-based luxury car giant. BMW intends to sell over 2 million units of cars and SUVs by the year 2020. Auto experts suggest that for the next four to five years, Audi is sure to give tough competition to BMW as its biggest challenger as both the car giants are playing big in the lucrative car markets of the world.
The backing of the Volkswagen Group in terms of resources and technology is also considered as one of the key strengths of Audi and BMW success. Audi India has somewhat similar story to narrate, the company entered Indian car market in 2007 only and has already overtaken the likes of Mercedes Benz whose has been present in India for over 15 years. At present Audi India stands as the second best luxury car maker after BMW of course and is also registering a steady rate growth.
