The Q2 is now Audi’s entry-level offering in India
-
Audi first introduced the Q2 compact SUV in 2016 and has now brought it to India.
-
It is priced between Rs 34.99 lakh and Rs 48.89 lakh with no direct rival as of now.
-
The Q2 is only offered with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine making 190PS/320Nm with AWD.
-
It’s the pre-facelifted version and its cabin looks premium but a bit outdated.
-
The facelifted model just went on sale in Europe.
The Audi lineup in India was cut back in 2020 but the German carmaker has been steadily releasing a slew of SUVs in the past couple of months. The latest addition to the brand’s Indian portfolio is the new entry-level offering here, the Q2 SUV. It is priced as follows:

The Q2 could be a crucial model for Audi India to drive volumes even though we’re getting the pre-facelift model while the latest version only just went on sale in Europe. It still gets the large single-piece grille, sporty bumpers, LED lighting and 17-inch alloy wheels. Audi is offering the Q2 with various customisation options and bright colours. It might be a small SUV but its tall bonnet still gives it good road presence.
The cabin is still premium, albeit a bit outdated in comparison to more recent Audi models. In fact, it will remind you of the now-discontinued Audi A3. The Q2 gets the optional digital instrument cluster and the free-standing 10-inch multimedia display atop the centre of the dashboard. Yep, it’s not a touchscreen unit and you control it via the swivel in the central console. Some argue that a more tactile control unit is better for using the multimedia than a touchscreen as it is less distracting. The list of creature comforts in the Q2 includes parking assist with rearview camera, wireless charging inside the front centre armrest, ambient lighting and plush upholstery.
Audi is offering the Q2 with a single engine option, the same 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol unit as offered in the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. It is tuned to make 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) sending power to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro AWD tech.
The Audi Q2 is a compact SUV with no direct rivals in the luxury segment. It is smaller than the likes of the similarly priced BMW X1, Volvo XC40, and the upcoming new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLA. Here’s how its dimensions compare:
