Beijing Auto show to host 89 new car Debuts

Beijing Auto show which is going to start by the end of this month will be hosting one of the highest-ever number of new car launches, as about 89 cars will make their debut in this auto show, said show organizers on Thursday. The major factor behind the showcase of new cars in this high number is, the vast opportunity exists in the China auto industry.

In the Delhi auto show a large number of car makers of the world had participated including Honda, Toyota, Nissan. Renault, Hyundai, GM, Fiat, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.

According to Mr Wang Xia, head of Auto China 2010 Secretariat, about 990 vehicles, including the 89 making their world debut, 65 concept vehicles and 95 new-energy-driven cars from foreign and Chinese automakers will be on display. The auto show will be held at the Beijing China International Exhibition Center from April 25 to May 2 this year.

Mr Wang added that China has become the world's fastest growing and most important auto market against the backdrop of the global financial crisis and major car companies of the world are eying China as a major source of growth.

In this auto show more than 2,100 automobile makers, from 16 countries or regions will be participating at an exhibition area of 200,000 square meters, as per the organizing committee of the auto show.

China automobile industry produced about 13.79 million cars in year 2009 while the sales touched 13.64 million cars in the domestic market, accounted for an increase of over 40 percent as compare to the same last year.
