BMW India to enter pre-owned car business

Latest updates in Indian automobile Industry suggest that German car maker BMW India is planning to enter the market of used cars in India. Furthermore, BMW India is also expected to inaugurate the used cars business in October this year and for this purpose the company is expanding the dealership network in the country.

At the inauguration ceremony of a new BMW outlet in Pune, president of BMW India, Mr. Andreas Schaaf told media that the company is going to extend the dealership network by opening outlets in small cities also. He also commented that the German car giant intends to enter Indian market with used car business in coming October.It is worth mentioning that German rivals of BMW i.e. Mercedes Benz and Audi recently entered in pre-owned car business in India.

While talking about significance of big cities in luxury and premium car market, Schaff said that high-end car business depends on network and BMW India is ready to tie up with right partners for network development and expansion. Further he added that the company intends to inaugurate a minimum of 40 dealer showrooms by the end of 2012.

However, Schaaf also commented that there is no possibility of offering discounts on group booking and it will result in degradation of BMW’s brand value. As for now BMW India comprises of a range of BMW cars including BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW X1, BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW Z4 Roadster, BMW M car models. In addition to above mentioned BMW cars, BMW 1 series is also expected hit Indian roads soon.
