After successfully completing an illustrious 100 years of operations, BMW has achieved yet another feat. The German carmaker has registered record sales in the month of February.
The automaker sold a total of 1,63,965 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce cars during the course of February. This amounts to a total of 7.9 per cent sales growth for the month. As far as the current year is concerned, BMW has sold 3,16,846 units as of now, which is equivalent to 7.7 per cent growth.
“As we activate our year of centenary events, I’m delighted that our sales continue to grow at a sustainable rate. As we expected, we are seeing tailwinds in some markets but headwinds in others. However with our innovative new models, we remain optimistic that we will continue to achieve steady sales growth as the year progresses,” commented Dr. Ian Robertson, member of the board of management of BMW AG (Sales and Marketing), expressing his delight over the achievement.
The most prominent models in the growth of BMW were from the X series. The BMW X1 and the X6 sales grew by 59.6 and 20.3 per cent, respectively, while figures of the BMW X3 rose by 16.8 per cent. Other series also displayed a modest increase, with the BMW 7 series sales rising by 21.6 per cent.
Area-wise results have been quite encouraging as well, with the United States masquerading as the sole dull spot. Even in Canada, the German group observed an impressive growth of 8.8 per cent.
