Last year on December 23rd 2010, BMW India launched its brand new SUV, known as BMW X1. The BMW X1 price lands around Rs. 22 Lakh. As soon as this premium SUV was launched in India, it in no time received around 1,000 booking, this is no doubt was a pretty impressive start. Since its launch, BMW India has been successful in delivering around 947 BMW X1 SUV. These figures had put BMW X1 on the 4th position. However, it seems that BMW X1 is in full swing and has managed to book quite a number of cars. It was seen that Skoda Yeti sales have dropped to lower than 200 units in the month of April and May. And this drop in figures can surely make BMW X1 stand tall on the 3rd position in sales amongst the premium SUVs in India, if it manages to complete the pending orders as soon as possible.

However, currently above BMW X1, there is Skoda Yeti, which was launched in October 2010 and managed to trade in around 1,100 units from the time frame of January to May. On the 2nd position, is Ford Endeavor with 1,404 cars sold and leading the list is the Toyota Fortuner, which managed to sell around a whopping 4,485 units in the same period that comes out to be approximately 900 cars per month.

However, BMW car sales are growing day by day. The booking of BMW cars have now touched the mark of 1,800 cars and still the firm is under pressure to sustain with the demand. The pending delivery numbers have been more, reason being the production restrictions BMW India has also faced earlier in 2011.

It is obvious, that BMW is trying its best to boost up its sales. In the time frame of January to May 2011, BMW has managed to beat the big daddies of the Indian Auto Market, such as Mitsubishi Pajero, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander and Chevrolet Captiva. Even with some production restrictions, BMW booking figures persist to be in demand by the consumers in India. If this demand continues to sustain, then BMW X1 in no time could possibly grab the 2nd spot very soon.
