The JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup is half way through and the excitement is palpable! With the revving engines in round 4 this weekend, the Polo R Cup season begins its second half of the season. Young drivers will make sure their machines will use every inch of the track and burn all the rubber on the tyre to win the races. The Chennai circuit proved to be a thrilling one during the last round where tables have turned in favour of the lad from Goa, Avdumber Hede. Vishnu Prasad, the current championship leader, lost out on some crucial points in race 2 where he couldn’t pick up any points owning to a collision early on in the race.

Oshan Kothadiya, the lone ranger from Pune showed consistency and is now placed third in the over-all championship standings. Other Polo R Cup drivers, Rahil, Ajay and Mihir displayed their skill behind the wheel, and are close behind the top three in the standings. “Chennai is an interesting and challenging circuit with a lot of turns. The drivers also experienced the same but they did a commendable job as the time gap between each of them was really narrow.

With so much happening, just wait and watch as the best is yet to come.” said Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India. He further added, “Like each round, this time we have a special race for the corporate top management to prove their mettle beyond the boardroom in the Bosses’ Race.” Also with the point system doubled from last round, the season has become more exciting. This is what helped Avdumber jump to the second spot and Vishnu lose out on those crucial points in race 2. In earlier rounds, the point system was kept to half, thus providing an opportunity to rookie drivers to learn the ropes of the race and get comfortable with the Race Polo.
