Chevrolet has unveiled a concept of Beat hatchback and named it Beat ACTIV. Chevy earlier claimed that spectators will witness a brand new avatar of the American automaker at the Expo and by the looks of it, the manufacturer has stood true to its statement. Looking at it, one can easily spot the projector headlamps on the car, which are encased in a much more sleeker cluster, when compared to the one seen in the current generation. The cluster also encases LED DRLs. Other aesthetic updates which break free from the previous Taewan Kim designed iteration are - the new dual port grille, sloping rake and the rising beltline, which can clearly be seen on the new model. The car finds its foundation in its previous generation of Beat hatchback and is expected to go on sale sometime later this year. However, there is a strong possibility that the launch might be pushed to early 2017, which will be followed by the launch of its sedan version, Beat Essentia.
Beat Essentia Also Showcased
Chevrolet has showcased its sub-4 metre sedan at the ongoing Auto Expo. The Essentia will compete against the likes of Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and the recently showcased Volkswagen Ameo. Beat Essentia will share its platform with the Chevrolet Beat and it is expected that the car will incorporate the same 1.0-liter 12V SMARTECH diesel mill, which is seen in the current generation of Beat hatchback. As far as petrol powerplants are concerned, there is a possibility that Chevrolet might introduce a new 1.0-liter petrol unit derived from its 1.4-liter Ecotec motor, which is seen in the Spark hatchback, available in international markets. The current 1.2-liter SMARTECH petrol powerplant might also undetrake the duties of the aforementioned engine. As far as gadgets are concerned, the new compact sedan will also feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
