Competing against the likes of Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze has come a long way. Recently, it achieved more than 3 million sales globally. While yet to be launched 2016 Cruze is already creating ripples in the automotive market here, we will analyse what are the positive and negative aspects of the car.
Pros:
- The greatest quality of the Chevrolet Cruze is its excellent driveability. Although the engine is quite powerful, the acceleration is linear. This makes the occupants feel very comfortable, especially while travelling in the city. It's light clutch, at least when compared to other cars in this segment, brings more joy for the driver.
- Chevrolet upgraded Cruze’s engine (2.0L) in one of its facelifted version. The new engine can deliver a maximum power of 164 bhp and a torque of 380 Nm. With this updated capability, Cruze is the most powerful car in its segment. This is what Chevrolet did perfectly right.
- The American car gets luxurious interiors which include partially-powered driver seat, improved cushioning (for the rear passengers) and other such interesting features. Apart from this, Cruze also gets improved headroom at the rear which enable it to stand out in its segment.
- The car is one of the quietest in its class and is able to score good on mileage (17.3 kmpl for manual variant).
Cons:
However, there are some places where we feel the American carmaker could have done better.
- Given the capability of the engine, the initial punch expected by most of us is absent. This problem is prominent especially while travelling at low speeds.
- At high speeds, it does not feel confident on turns. The soft steering and suspension setup works better in city conditions.
- Competitors of Cruze get sturdier built quality and this can sometimes upset a Cruze owner.
- Cruze’s interiors get plastic finishes at various places which reduces the overall cabin quality.
- No AC vents for the rear passengers.
Conclusion:
Chevrolet Cruze has muscular looks and is a perfect buy for those who want a combination of power and comfort. The car is able to cut through city traffic with ease and perfectly isolated its occupants from outside noise. It has sufficient legroom and a lot of luxurious features to appease the buyer. Cruze performs well in almost every aspect and thus can be considered as value for money product.
