Chevrolet Sail electric car to be exhibited in Guangzhou Auto Show on 21st December

Rumours have been doing the rounds in China, that General Motors will be exhibiting the Chevrolet Sail electric car at the Guangzhou Motor Show starting on the 21st of December, 2010. The Indian auto market is eying on the Guangzhou Motor Show, as the Japanese auto market Nissan will showcase the Nissan Sunny, the V-Platform saloon. In the beginning of this year, the American auto maker General Motors declared that the auto company is working towards making the electric version of the Chevrolet Sail in the world's fastest growing auto market China. In the domestic auto market, General Motors was developing Chevrolet Spark, the battery operated version with REVA and wished then to come with it by the last quarter of 2010. The company also exhibited the developing car & prototype in the Auto Expo which included new front-end and interiors. But later when Mahindra-Reva ventured together in May, 2010, it forced GM to work on the battery car by itself.

In India, as per the auto experts, General Motors India will exhibit its electric car Chevrolet Sail by April 2011. As the electric variant of Chevrolet Spark has been shelved and no other low cost electric car work was going on, General Motors India decided to showcase Chevrolet Sail electric car as the company's electric car model. If the grapevines are to be believed, it is expected that Chevrolet Sail twins will follow the Chevrolet Aveo twins by next year in India. The new development on the GM's Chevrolet Sail electric car coming in India which will be available in three variants- diesel, petrol and electric by 2011.

General Motors in India, performed quite well in the month of November, 2010. The company accounted a growth of 18 per cent by selling 8376 cars when compared to the sales of 7118 cars in November 2009. The US auto maker rules the Indian car market with hatchback to sedans to SUVs. Chevrolet Spark which recorded a sale of 2786 cars, Chevrolet Beat registered a sale of 2547 cars, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA had sales of 291 units, Chevrolet Aveo reached to a sales figure of 297 cars, Chevrolet Tavera accounted for a sale of 1476 cars, Chevrolet Cruze accounted for a sale of 617 cars, Chevrolet Optra recorded sales of 262 units and Chevrolet Captiva witnessed sales of 100 units in the month of November, 2010.
