General Motors India is gearing up to bring in the Chevrolet Sail sedan to India this year. It was unveiled as the replacement of Chevrolet Aveo at the 11th Auto Expo that was held in New Delhi. The Chevrolet Sail sedan was sighted several times on the roads of Pune, Maharashtra during its test run and therefore one thing was certain that the car will be launched in India very soon. However, the launch date has still been kept under the hood. This new sedan by General Motors India is certainly stylish but the company hasn’t compromised on the safety features.

Chevrolet Sail has managed to get 4 star rating in C-NCAP testing, which is an organizational body same as Euro NCAP. The safety cage of the car is incorporated with crumple zones. Furthermore, there is a steel frame that surrounds the fuel tank as a thorough protection in case of any accident or collision. The dual air bags present in the front saves the front passengers from major injuries during a crash. The retractable steering column along with child safety lock is also present in the Chevrolet Sail sedan. The Anti-Lock braking system better known as ABS is in attendance with EBD that adds more protection to the car.

The new Chevrolet Sail sedan has been jointly developed by PATAC (Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center) and Shanghai General Motors along with a fresh architecture in complaint with General Motor’s Global Vehicle Development Process or GVDP and the international standards for engineering and quality. GM’s Chevy Beat also abides by the identical standards. In India, Chevrolet Sail Sedan will directly compete with cars like Ford Fiesta Classic, Toyota Etios, Tata Manza and Mahindra Verito.
