And… we didn’t have to wait for long for some news from Chevrolet. Chevrolet unveiled the all new Chevrolet Spin minivan for Brazil. This van would be one of the most crucial for the North American car manufacturer’s expansion plans. Dealers in Brazil have already started taking orders for the van and the second most important market for it will be Indonesia. The production in Indonesia is expected to start somewhere next year. The Brazil version of the van will be powered by a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine. The fuel options will be petrol and ethanol.
The van will be capable of churning out 108bhp power when burning on ethanol and 106bhp when running on petrol. The mill will be offered in 6-speed automatic transmission and the base model will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The dimensions of the van are length of 4343mm, 1727mm in width and 1651mm height. The front of the car bears the usual grille divided into two and the division flaunts the Chevrolet bowtie. The seating option for Spin would allow it to be either seat 5 people or 7. The 5-seater version will have two rows and 7-seater will have three.
The rear seats can however be removed in case there is a requirement for extra cargo. For now only details regarding the Brazilian version have been disclosed. For the specifications for van built for Indonesia, there is still time. But as Martin Apfel, the president of GM's Southeast Asian operations stated, this vehicle will make Indonesia proud and it will be a vehicle suitable for Indonesia built by Indonesians. For the time being there is no news of the future plans for the minivan, expect the near future launch of Chevrolet Spin in Brazil followed by Indonesia.
