Civic to be the first model from Honda to get 1.6 liter I-DTEC turbo diesel engine

Honda Motors has given the top most priority to its Earth Dreams Project, which has been going on at its R&D center Japan for some time now. This project comprise of development of new range of turbo diesel engine, which will be used by Honda in its future products 2012 Honda Civic sedan is expected to be the first model from Honda to be powered with this new diesel engine. This 1.6 litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine will pump out 120 BHP of peak power at 4000 rpm along with 300 Nm of peak torque at 2000 rpm.

It is the top-class engine that has been introduced by Honda so far taking into account the i-DTEC engine displacement. Besides this, the new 1.6 litre of i-DTEC turbo diesel engine emits low CO2, which comes out to be 95 grams per kilometer. This new engine range by Honda is said to be the lightest aluminum open deck 1.6 litre of diesel engine in the entire world. Apparently, this 1.6 litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine will be developed at Honda’s United Kingdom plant during the end of 2012.
