Nissan, the Japanese car manufacturer has revived Datsun brand after 32 long years to enhance its market share in the developing nations. On July 15, Datsun's first product Go hatchback was preimered in India, and is expected to hit the market by early 2014. Yesterday, the company unveiled its second model Go+ MPV in Indonesia. The same will also come to the Indian car market by the mid of 2014. Following the launch of Go hatchback, it is also speculated that Datsun MPV will be presented at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Datsun brand is specifically revived for developing car markets like India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.
Now, the bigger question is, what could be the next product from Datsun portfolio, and which country will host its global premier. Our sources said that the next Datsun product will be a compact sedan, based on the Go hatchback. Russia or South Africa could be the places where the company will unveil the vehicle. We expect the compact sedan to be premiered in India at the 2014 Auto Expo alongside the compact MPV. There is also a possibility of a compact crossover for the Indian buyers, as the compact SUV market is growing at a brisk pace in the country.
Datsun Go+ MPV will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Mahindra Quanto. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 5.5-6 lakh for the Indian car buyers. The compact sedan will cross sword with Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and others.
This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to CarDekho to catch all the updates on Datsun products.
