Guillaume Sicard, recently appointed President of Nissan India operations, said that the Datsun GO+ MPV – the next product in Datsun India pipeline will be launched in the first half of next year. Showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year, the MPV was expected to go on sales this year, but currently company is on constant endeavor to increase the presence of 'Datsun' brand in India. This year, the GO+ made its debut in Indonesia and its prices are in between INR 4.50-5.50 lakh (approximate conversion), which makes it cheaper than any MPV on sale in India.
Speaking of the GO+, the MPV share its design with the hatch and underpins the same architecture. The face is just a carbon copy of hatch while the rear looks like an extended version of the same. On the inside, dashboard is similar to that of GO and sports similar features too like, audio system with mobile docking, bench-like front seats, follow-me-home headlamps, smart wipers, etc.
The GO+ MPV is powered by the same engine that's under the hatchback, a Nissan's 1.2 liter three-pot unit. The motor belts out a modest 68bhp of max power and 104Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed unit in a front wheel drive layout, similar to that of GO. Moreover, third product after the GO+ will be be a compact sedan, the car will be based on Micra's platform. The vehicle will target the compact sedan on sale in India and expect a economical price tag, just like any other Datsun!
