Diesel variants of Toyota twins spotted in Bangalore

Toyota India is aggressively testing the diesel variants of its Etios sedan and recently launched Toyota Etios Liva hatchback. Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback were caught undergoing test drives in Bangalore. It is being speculated that the diesel variant will inherit the same looks and features as that of its petrol sibling, except a badge which was conspicuous on the diesel variants.

The Etios twins will come affixed with a 1.4 liter turbo CRDI engine, enhancing the frugality by delivering a decent mileage of 21 kmpl. It will come with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Japanese auto major claims that it is all prepared with the diesel technology and is waiting for the right time to roll out the eagerly awaited diesel variants of Etios sedan and Etios hatchback. Etios sedan which was launched last year in the month of December received an overwhelming response in the Indian car market, thanks to the competitive pricing, it was successful in luring the customers in India. Looking at the market demand the diesel car segment is thriving due to the continual rise in the petrol prices coupled with sky rocketing interest rates. Car makers are vying to roll out diesel variants of their popular models in order to combat the slowdown in the Indian car market.

Toyota recently debuted in the hatchback segment by launching the most inexpensive car under its stable in India, Toyota Etios Liva. Unfortunately the hatchback did not receive the kind of response the company thought it would get due to the lack of a diesel variant. With the launch of the diesel variant, the company envisages to witness a rampart growth in the Indian car market.

Hatchback segment has seen a major growth over the years and car makers are trying to come up with low priced hatchbacks in order to sheen in the small car segment in India. Honda India is also all set to launch another hatchback in India christened Honda Brio, which is likely to be launched in the month of September.
