Update: Tata has showcased the entry level hatchback Zica at the 2016 Auto Expo that will take on other popular hatchbacks in the country including Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10. Audiences may not have to wait too long to get their hands on the newly launched hatchback with its release scheduled in two weeks. With company’s very own ConnectNext infotainment system, segment first 8 speaker system and alternatives for diesel and naturally aspirated motor, Tata Zica looks pretty strong to make a big impact. Check out the Auto Expo reveal, image gallery and more.

Tata’s much awaited hatchback, Zica made its debut last night in Goa and the car has managed to exceed all expectations we had with it. Following the unveil Tata officially released specifications of the car and much to our surprise, Zica has some aces up its sleeve, which make this little hatchback the car to have. So, we have compiled a list of Zica’s feature highlights that make it one of the most desirable upcoming hatchbacks in India. Here’s all that you need to know about Tata Tiago a.k.a. Zica.

Design

The car has been designed by the collaboration of Tata designs studios based out of Pune, United Kingdoms and Italy. The car incorporates Tata’s DesignNext design language. Styling cues that stand out the most include the car's aggressive stance, courtesy of its hood overhang. The car flaunts a bold and sculpted look, which is bestowed by the incorporated Designext credos, which include, humanity line, slingshot line and Diamond DLO. Zica features a sharp design and overall appeal is enhanced as a courtesy of three-dimensional headlamps with smoked lens and sporty black bezel and the immaculately designed rear spoiler spats. The attention to detail in the terms of design in Zica is rather commendable, which can be clearly seen even in the windshield wiper that has been designed to be lower, so as to provide better visibility to the occupants.

1.2 Liter Revotron Petrol Engine

Making its debut in the new Tata Zica is the three cylinder petrol and diesel units sourced out of Tata’s in-house developed Revotron and Revotorq family. The car comes with a 1.2-liter Revotron, 3-cylinder 4 valve MPFi petrol engine, capable of producing 85PS @6000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque @3500rpm. The diesel mill is a 1.05-liter Revotorq, 3-cylinder, CRAIL engine and delivers 70PS @4000rpm and 140Nm of torque in the range of 1800-3000rpm.

Driving Modes

The company has dubbed this hatchback ‘Zica’, as the name was inspired by the zippy driving experience it claims of delivering. The name is a form of abstract for “the Zippy car” and staying true to its moniker the company has also incorporated its drive mode selector in this hatchback. The driver has an option of selecting from Multi-Drive modes, namely- City and Eco drive modes. This is reminiscent of Tata’s other recent offerings like the Zest sedan and Bolt hatchback. The feature is one of the many segment firsts that Tata has introduced with Zica.

Safety

Tata has also made momentous strides in terms of passenger safety. Zica comes packed with advanced safety features like dual-front airbags, advanced 9th generation ABS with EBD, corner stability control, rear parking sensors with infotainment screen display and an energy absorbing body structure. The car features a crumple zone that ensures kinetic energy, which is generated in case of a crash impact is instantaneously absorbed, so as to ensure that the integrity of the cabin structure is maintained, keeping the occupants safe while cruising at regulated speeds.

Features

Saving the best for last, the cabin of Tata Zica is the place to be! The interiors of the top-end model Zica will feature body colored AC vent pallets for the left and right AC louvers. This however is just the icing on the cake, as Zica also comes with a new entertainment unit powered by Harman like in the company’s ConnectNext line-up. The system comes jampacked with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity, along with a tuner and a large screen display, which also reflects the data from the rear parking sensors and is paired to the car’s segment-first, eight-speaker system (4 speakers and 4 tweeters).

The customers will also get two new applications, viz. Navigation app and the Juke-Car app.

The Navigation app will display turn-by-turn navigation on the car’s infotainment system, once the user pairs their Android smartphone with the infotainment system via Bluetooth.

The other app is the Juke-Car App and this feature can be considered as the trump card of Tata Zica. The Juke-Car app is developed by Harman and helps one share their entire music playlist from one connected/host-device (Android only) to other devices that are connected through a virtual network created by the mobile hotspot, similar to data transferring apps like Xender. This will help all the occupants of the car access, cue and change tracks without the hassle of tangled long aux-cables or the annoyance of passing one’s device around.
