Hyundai has been testing the facelifted i20 globally since the end of 2022.
-
Indian spy shots reveal new alloy wheels; it had partial camouflage at the front and rear.
-
Inside, it was likely seen with the same 10.25-inch touchscreen and a dashcam (new).
-
Additional features could include ambient lighting and ventilated front seats.
-
Expected to get the same 1.2-litre N.A. and 1-litre turbo-petrol engine options as the current model.
-
Hyundai could launch it at a starting price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
Towards the end of 2022, the facelifted Hyundai i20’s first set of spy images from its home country surfaced online. Now, we have exclusively got our hands on the updated hatchback’s first Indian spy images.
What Can Be Seen?
The spy images show the facelifted i20 finished in a silver paint while sporting partial black covering at the front and rear. It also gives us a look at the facelifted i20’s revised alloy wheel design, which is different than the one seen on the globally unveiled model. Although the front isn’t visible in the latest images, we can expect its changes to be in line with those seen on the updated i20 revealed globally. It should include a tweaked grille design, updated LED lighting, and tweaked bumpers.
Interior Updates
While there’s no clear image of the facelifted i20’s interior, we feel Hyundai could give it a new upholstery and also possibly a new cabin theme. That said, we can see a touchscreen system (likely the same 10.25-inch unit as the current model) and a dashcam (new feature). The facelifted i20 could become the third Hyundai car in India to get the dashcam following the Venue N Line and the upcoming Exter micro SUV.
Existing i20's cabin
Other equipment on board the facelifted i20 will likely comprise of auto climate control, cruise control, connected car tech, and wireless phone charging. New features could include ventilated front seats and ambient lighting.
In terms of safety, the facelifted i20 could come with six airbags as standard, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera.

Any Changes In Powertrain?
Hyundai isn’t expected to tinker with the powertrain options of its premium hatchback. It should continue with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (83PS/114Nm) and 1-litre turbo-petrol (120PS/172Nm) engine options. While the former can be had with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT, the latter gets a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) only.
India Launch And Price
We believe Hyundai could launch the facelifted i20 in India around the festive season. Its prices are expected to start at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium hatchback will continue to go up against the Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.
