In the recently-concluded Maruti Suzuki Ciaz's media unveiling in Jaipur, the company announced that it will launch its new C-segment sedan in the upcoming festive-season in October. Now our sources have precised that widened statement and has confirmed that Ciaz will be launched on the October 10th.
Pitched against the likes of segment-leader Honda City, Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Verna, the Ciaz is the replacement for the carmaker's not-so-successful SX4 sedan. The Ciaz surely looks way more upmarket than the SX4 and comes equipped with bundle of high-end goodies. These include first-in-class projector headlamps, new 16 inch alloy wheels in the top-end trim, while the regular variants will sport 15 inchers, key-less entry, window blinds, a touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera, climate control, ABS and two airbags, rear AC vents, push button stop-start system and many more.
The sedan will be offered with two engine options, that already does its duty under the hood of brand's Ertiga MPV. The diesel variants will be powered by the same Fiat-spourced 1.3-litre-DDiS diesel mill that churns out 90PS and peak torque of 200Nm, while the petrol variants will now come packed with 1.4-litre K-series petrol unit, rated at 92PS and 130Nm of max. torque, ditching the earlier 1.6-litre motor of SX4. The petrol Ciaz has an ARAI certified mileage of 20.7 kmpl and the diesel posts the segment-best 26.2 kmpl.. Unlike the regular Maruti products, the Ciaz will get ZXI+ and the ZDI+.top-of-the-line variants and will be offered in a choice of seven colours to choose from.
