Fiat Linea T-Jet to be launched on 8th Oct

With the launch of Fiat Linea in January 2009, Fiat India began its second innings in India. The Linea was offered with a 1.3-litre multijet and 1.4-llitre FIRE powerplant options, a standard in most of the European markets. The sedan design has been aggressively priced considering the features that it offers. The T-Jet engine was showcased at the Auto Expo'10 and now another engine would be added to Linea's portfolio. This time it would be a 1.4-litre engine with a turbocharger producing 110bhp. The Linea T-jet equipped with this new engine should be launched in October 2010.

The Linea T-Jet has got an additional T-Jet badge along with a rear spoiler which adds a downforce for the rear. This new model will have the bodyshell similar to that of its other variants. The new T-Jet Linea of Fiat will be the first vehicle to run on the turbocharged version of the naturally aspirated 1.4L petrol engine. It will have a torque of 200Nm and 120PS at 5000rpm. The T-Jet would be able to go from 0-100 kmh in 9.2 seconds and would offer a top speed of 200 kmph. It will have a five speed manual transmission. An illuminated digital console panel, power lock doors, side and roof airbags will also be there. The tires of T-jet Linea will have sporty wheel trims and bumpers. The brand new model of Fiat will be available in four different colors as Tecno Grey, Flamenco Red, Lullaby Blue and Rockability Black.

Some other interesting features of the new Fiat T-jet Linea would include two-part grille, twin-pod lights and a discreet 'Multijet' badge that is placed to the left of the Fiat badge. The door-mounted mirrors would be mounted on stalks. A row of three reflectors has also been provided in each tail-lamp. A new leather upholstery is another additional brand new feature. Some other specifications about this model include the power of 110 bhp, length of 4560mm, width of 1730mm and height as 1487 mm.

With its brand new model Linea T-jet, Fiat is targeting the segment which is already marked with auto giants like Honda City, Hyundai Verna Transform and the Maruti Suzuki SX4. Volkswagen Vento is available in petrol and diesel options. The Honda City has a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 1.5-litre. Both SX4 and the Verna Transform produce power in excess of 100bhp. The new Linea T-jet is also expected to have a similar fuel efficiency like its 1.4-litre petrol engine. The Fiat Linea T-Jet is expected to win the hearts of the car- enthusiasts.
