The revamped version of Fiat Palio is expected to be introduced in Brazil and the other South American markets by 2012. The North American markets will see the upgraded Palio under the Dodge marquee. Dodge is owned by Chrylser, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat. Fiat India apparently has no plans to launch the 2012 Fiat Palio in the Indian car market. The next model from Fiat is supposed to be launched in 2014 in the likes of Fiat Grande Punto.
Fiat India in a step to ramp up its sales in the country is offering lucrative discounts on its models, Fiat Linea and Fiat Grande Punto. The discounts offered on Fiat Linea is in the range of Rs 1.3 lakhs, while the discounts on the Fiat Punto can be consolidated up to Rs 75,000. The exchange benefits on the sedan come up to Rs 20,000 with a negligible insurance coverage of Re 1. The free roadside assistance for 50 months and gift cheques sums up the deal. The Fiat Punto includes the exchange benefits up to Rs 15,000 with an insurance coverage at Rs 1 for the year, apart from the free roadside assistance for 50 months and the gift cheques.
The exchange benefits offered by Fiat India are in return of the used car, where the outgoing Fiat Linea sells for Rs 6.5 lakhs. The Fiat Punto costs around Rs 4.3 lakhs. Which means, Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 discounts offered on the Fiat Punto and Fiat Linea are negligible compared to its actual price. This is basically Fiat India’s pure marketing strategy to lure the customers into buying the cars.
