Fiat Panda expected to hit Indian shores by mid 2012

Fiat India in order to consolidate its position in India is expected to introduce its globally-much-successful hatchback, Fiat Panda for its Indian audience. Third generation of Fiat Panda was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show where the third generation of the small car was on display. However Fiat Panda is not new to the car market and has done a good number of rounds in many countries. The latest version of Fiat Panda is expected to enter Indian market in mid-2012. To start with the features, the new Fiat Panda contains differently looking exteriors, not yet seen in any other car in its segment in India. The bonnet it lifted and curved a bit, the roof is bending towards the front.

The grille is spacious without any chrome. To look at interiors, Fiat Panda has a whole new setup and buttons look perfect and refreshingly new. Panda will be available in three trim levels, 10 body colors and four different interiors, subsequent in 600 possible different combinations. A five-speed manual gearbox is given in the cabin. However, a semiautomatic “Dualogic” gearbox will be given as an option later. Advanced intelligent features like an obstacle detection system operating at a speed less than 30 km/h which can automatically apply the brakes if the driver is unaware, will also be available. Out of about six engine options available in oversees market Fiat India is likely to roll out a petrol and a diesel engine for India.

Fiat India will commence the production of Fiat Panda by November this year. The company offers Fiat Punto and Fiat Linea in India. The company is doing every bit to sustain alone in harsh Indian car market as it parted ways with the Tata showrooms and decided to go for stand alone showrooms of Fiat in India. But with not many options to offer, even those showrooms will look empty. Thus bringing a new car targeted towards masses is a sincere effort to attract more Indian buyers.
