Ford celebrates 50,000 Ford Figo on road

Ford India, which represents luxury, comfort and class is the sixth largest car manufacturer in the country. Ford India has shown a remarkable growth in the country with its cars which are affixed with advanced technology, style and elegance. Ford India, was established in India in 1996 which is a subsidiary of Ford the American car marker. In India, Ford has 167 dealerships which the company plans to extend to 200 by the end of the year. These dealership are in as many as 22 cities. Recently Ford India, celebrated the sale of 50,000 Ford Figos at an event in Chennai. Ford event was successful with the theme the company chose. To everyone's surprise, Ford India did not announce any new schemes, gifts, discounts or a revised version. But the American giants used the popular social networking site “Facebook” for the celebration. Ford selected four couples and drove them from Chandigarh to Chennai. The journey left the participants in awe of the hatchback. One of the selected couples was the proud owner of Ford Figo. The couples were chosen on the character concept Sandeep around which Ford Figo was designed.

Ford Figo 50,000th model was beautifully decorated by Rob, one of the most talented and creative artist in India. The hatchback has been sold at an auction for 20 lacs. Ford India, donated the money raised from the 50,000th Ford Figo to the Chengalpet schools for the betterment of the infrastructure. Ford Figo is the only car brand in the country to reach the milestone of 50,000 after Maruti Suzuki in the Indian Auto industry. Ford Figo made it to the list of the ten best selling cars in India in just the six months of its launch.

On the occasion of Ford India's achievement, elated, Michael Boneham, the president and managing director of Ford India said that the Discover Smart Drive has greatly helped the car to connect it with the Indian consumers. Ford is extremely busy with new ventures which it is planning to soon bring in the Indian market. They have extensive plans to export Ford Figo in 48 countries, other than South Africa and Nepal. However Ford is not willing to reveal its future plans.

Ford India, has four of its cars in the market which have lured the customers with its advanced technology and features, they are Ford Figo, Ford Endeavor, Ford Fiesta and Ford New Ikon. These cars have embarked success for Ford India. Among the variety of sedans, SUVs and hatchbacks Ford India has made its mark in the compact car segment with the heart winning Ford Figo.
