Ford Endeavour 2019: Launch Tomorrow

Ford’s flagship SUV is set to get mild cosmetic updates and new features; likely to be priced between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 34 lakh

• 2019 Endeavour is expected to be priced between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 34 lakh (ex-showroom).

• Ford will only offer two variants - Titanium and Titanium+ - with the same 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre diesel engines as before.

• 2.2-litre diesel engine will be available with a manual transmission as well.

Ford is set to launch the 2019 Endeavour in India on February 22. The facelifted model has already been on sale in countries like Thailand since mid-2018 and features subtle aesthetic updates along with some updated technology as well.

The new Ford Endeavour will come with a tweaked front grille, a slightly reworked front bumper, and new 18-inch alloy wheels too. There will also be a new colour on offer - Diffused Silver - which will replace the Smoke Grey colour option on the outgoing model while the rest of the colours will continue to be on offer too.

There’s no change in the layout of the 2019 Endeavour’s cabin. However, it will get some updated features. It will now come with a new black-and-beige interior theme instead of the earlier black, brown and beige interior. The new model will also get push-button start/stop and an electrically-adjustable co-driver seat. It will only be offered in two variants - Titanium and Titanium+; the base-spec Trend variant has been discontinued.

Ford will continue to offer the 2019 Endeavour with the same diesel engine options  as before. The 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine produces 160PS of power and 385Nm of torque, while the 3.2-litre unit churns out 200PS and 400Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. Interestingly, Ford will reintroduce the 6-speed manual with the smaller 2.2-litre engine. This may allow the company to offer a well-equipped but less expensive variant.

We expect the 2019 Ford Endeavour to be priced at a small premium over the outgoing model which was priced from Rs 26.82 lakh to Rs 33.31 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), especially with the base-spec Trend variant being no longer on offer. The new Endeavour is likely to have a starting price of Rs 30 lakh, with the top-spec variant likely to cost around Rs 34 lakh. It will renew its rivalry with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
