Ford Figo 1.5: Ford India ponders rolling out new Figo variant

American Multinational car maker Ford is on hot seat again. Few months back Ford announced launch of new car models in India within next 3.5 years. As per speculations, Ford is planning to develop another marvel by developing bigger Ford Figo affixed with the 2011 Fiesta’s engine. It is worth mentioning that Ford is also planning to enter Gujarat with an aim of installing a manufacturing unit of annual capacity of three lakh units.

Reports further suggest that Ford India is seeking a car to fill in the gap between the Ford Figo and the Ford Fiesta Classic. So, the new Ford Figo 1.5 Diesel is something which could be expected as gap filler between these two popular Indian cars.Last year Ford India rolled out 83887 cars compared to 29488 units in 2009, which was quite huge difference and this year company sold 51,000 cars (including exports) in first five months. With Ford India gaining a mammoth success of 71 percent in sales figure (first five months), much credit should be given to the popular Ford Figo hatchback car which sold one lakh units recently.

Due to immense success of its flagship Ford Figo, the company experienced quite high prospects all across the globe. Further with huge demand of this compact small car, Ford India started exporting the Ford Figo to Bahrain and Kenya in June this year. Moreover, the car also won the runner-up position in South African car of the year event.President and managing director of Ford India, Michael Boneham said that with exceptional fuel efficiency and design, Ford Figo is continuously gaining good repute in both India and International market.

Ford India recently opened three new integrated 3-S (Showroom, Sales and Service) dealerships with an aim of expanding the dealership across India. Currently company is having 173 outlets across 102 Indian cities.
