Ford Figo bookings reach 15,000; elevates Ford's sales

With the Sales of various auto majors reaching its peak in April, Ford India joins the league recording a three-fold high in the sales figure of April'2010. With the launch of its latest venture Ford Figo, Ford India is dreaming and achieving high. Soon after its launch, Ford Figo has already received 15,000 bookings in the past seven weeks. With growing demand of the car, Ford India plans to now start the second round of Figo production at the Chennai plant of the company. The production would start from June 2010 as quoted by the Ford India's officials. Last year in April 2009, the company had recorded sales of 2,034 units.

Ford is certainly very happy seeing the response on the launch of Ford Figo. The company's Managing Director, Michael Boneham, recently said that they are extremely delighted at the fact that the car is able to sustain momentum and is creating a new set of customers for the company. It was also added that the company would proactively increase the production to meet the demand for Ford Figo.

Ford India has a major production facility at Chennai that has a production capacity of around 1 lakh units, that would now be increased to two lakh units. All this comes as a part of the major investment plan of $500 million by Ford Motors. Besides the overall units, the Chennai plant has got a capacity to produce 2.5 lakh units of engine every year.

It is certain that Ford Figo is going to go a long way, looking into the response it has been receiving since its launch. Apart from Ford Figo, various Ford models like Ford Fiesta, Ford Endeavour, Ford Ikon etc have also recorded good sales in the month of April'2010
