Ford Figo to be shipped to 48 countries this year

Ford India, revealed today (22nd January, 2011) that it will export its hatchback Ford Figo in 48 countries which include auto markets of nations such as Africa, Middle East and South America. As per a senior official, the company will start shipping the car in the present year.
In 2010, Ford India the fully owned subsidiary of US based Ford Motors shipped around 7000 cars of the new car model in South African auto markets crediting it to the huge demand. Ford has also commenced the shipping of the car in Nepal auto industry. And from the current year it is expanding it more by commencing the export of Ford Figo in 48 other auto markets.

Mr N Raja, the Vice President Sales, at Ford India, revealed it to the media reporters and further said that European auto market will be the next step ahead.

In India, 1500 car models of Ford Figo have been rolled out in Kerala within the 100 days of its launch and the car sales have reached around 4000 units in 2010 which the company wishes to double now. Ford India as per the financial strategy is looking for 50 per cent growth in 2011 and sales of around one lakh cars in 2011. In 2010, the auto giant sold more than 80,000 cars.
Mr Raja while talking to the media personal also revealed the future plans that the company expects to launch 8 new car models by 2015.
