Ford Figo travels to Nigeria

Ford Motors has launched its award-winning hatchback Ford Figo in Nigeria this month. Ford Figo, a completely Indian product is launched in the African country with the courtesy of Coscharis Motors which is Ford Motors’ representative in Nigeria. The very popular hatch, Ford Figo was launched in South Africa and now the car is launched in Nigeria with a 1.4L Duratec petrol engine. Raju Sawlani, Executive Director, Sales and after sales at Coscharis Motors said Ford Figo has best-in-class-ride and handling with amazing interior space and this has made it “Most awarded car of the year” in India auto industry.

Ford Figo received 2011 India car of the year, 2011 small car of the year, 2011 compact car of the year, 2011 Design of the year awards as well as named among the leaders in customers satisfaction in the upper premium segment by a jury of automobile editors. This led Ford Motors to decide to export Ford Figo in about 50 markets including Middle East and African market. Nigerian market has received only two variants, the Ford Figo Trend and the Ford Figo Ambiente both with manual transmission. While Ford Figo Ambiente is the slightly lower end model, Ford Figo Trend is the sportier version that includes ABS as a standard installation with it.

Sawlani disclosed that later in a year a 1.6 litre Duratec engine with automatic transmission of Ford Figo will be introduced with higher features. Mr. Sola Adigun, Group General Manager at Coscharis Motors stated that Ford Motors maintains the same quality all over the world adding that they were providing a brand new Ford car at the cost of used car. Mr. Adenuga Olalekan, the Divisional General Manager at Coscharis Ford, said that their strategy is to present Ford Figo as a winner. It may look small outside but it is extremely big inside. It has all the attributes of a modern day Ford and it is the best in its segment adding that he has not seen any other car that is as roomy as the Ford Figo in its class.
