Ford India plans a new plant in Gujarat

If everything goes according to the plan, then it might be possible that Ford India might set up its manufacturing plant just next to the Tata Motors Nano plant, which is located at Sanand. Some of the speculations suggest that Ford India has already hunted around 550 acres of land from Gujarat’s government to put up their manufacturing plant accompanied with a subsidiary park.

According to the grapevine, Ford India has solicited approximately 400 acres of land for its manufacturing plant along with requested around 100 to 150 acres for its subsidiary units. Another thing, which filled up the air in the Indian Automobile market, was that the land on which Ford India might set up its own plant is situated at Sanand. Therefore, one can expect some kind of development and the official announcement to set up a manufacturing plant in Sanand by Ford India could take place within next 15 days or so.

Ford India already has a manufacturing plant in India, which is situated near Maraimalai Nagar, Chennai and the one in Gujarat will be the second one. The Chennai plant of Ford is quite huge and keeps the capacity of producing around 200,000 units per year.

Since last November, Ford India is showing its interest in investigating land in Gujarat. According to the rumors, Ford India officials have been in talks with the Gujarat government regarding the facility land. In India, Ford is known for its top class cars, which includes, Ford Fiesta Classic, Ford Endeavour and soon to be launched new 2011 Ford Fiesta.
