Ford India plans to increase the Capacity at Chennai Plant

Ford Motors India, is looking forward to increase the installed capacity in its South Indian manufacturing plant but is coming across restriction from the company's component suppliers. It was reported by a seniors official from the company.

Micheal Boneham President and Managing Director of Ford India Pvt Ltd., said that, the company is willing to begin with the third shift at the Ford's Chennai manufacturing unit. Boneham revealed it in an event he participated in. He further said that, the unit is already running its full installed capacity of 140,000 units.

Boneham showing his concern said that, the demand for Ford cars is increasing in the domestic auto market but due to the constraints in supply from the component makers, Ford is unable to make it upto the demand in the market. He also said that, in the facility it is not easy to hasten the manufacturing. The company can not increase the capacity till the time the components supply is stabilized.

Since 1995, Ford Figo is a fully owned subsidiary of the Ford automobiles from US who are well known for sophisticated technology, advanced features and great styling. Ford sells winsome cars in the domestic auto market from its popular hatchback Ford Figo to invouge sedan New Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta, the stout and savvy SUV Ford Endeavour. As per the expansion plans of the US auto company, it plans to roll out eight new car models in the Indian car market by 2015.

Ford had a successful year in terms of sales as in the month of November the company registered growth of 198 per cent compared with the sales of 2009. The auto giants sold 7,504 cars in November, 2010 against the sales of 2,520 cars in the month of November 2009. It seems the year end is bringing more festivities in the Ford's stable as it has won the Indian's most prestigious award Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY), 2011 on 15th December 2010. Given by the renowned journalists in the auto industry it holds great value in the Indian auto sector. Ford Figo rightly deserve the award as the car is affixed with elegant designs, excellent fuel efficiency with pleasurable driving experience all at competitive price.
