Ford India rolls out whopping Rs 75k discount on new Fiesta petrol variant

In a step to catch up with the pace set by the leading car manufacturers in the country, Ford India has placed an aggressive discount offer on the Ford Fiesta petrol variant. The auto major has placed a massive discount of Rs 75,000, the company is on the brink of launching an automatic variant of Ford Fiesta sedan. Basically, this is a high-end strategy worked out by the manufacturer to place the Ford Fiesta AT price more competitively maintaining a difference of 10% between the petrol driven sedan and its automatic variant. Ford India has been making continuous efforts to ramp up the lukewarm sales of the Fiesta sedan making use of every opportunity in hand.

Every now and then, the Ford India has introduced a new variant to fill in the gap. A new Ford Fiesta model was launched in July 2011, when the auto major had launched the petrol variant at Rs 8.23 lakhs and the diesel variant at Rs 9.27 lakhs. Slightly unpractical pricing had led to dipping sales. To overcome the blunder committed by Ford, they corrected it by offering a discount up to Rs 50,000 initially on the petrol car. Despite the substantial amount of discount, the car sales refused to climb up. Determined to drive high sales volumes, the auto major has further hiked the discount to Rs 75,000 on the petrol variant. The current price of the Ford Fiesta petrol now stands at Rs 7.48 lakhs, occupying the slot just under the Honda City sedan.

Out of the blue, the sedan now seems to be quite an attractive offer on the platter. With the plethora of features, it has to offer, the sedan with its economic price proves to be class leading in the C-segment sedans. The striking exteriors combined with the ease of handling puts it in a different league. However, the auto major expects to make up for all the drawbacks in the new Ford Fiesta AT variant to be launched in 2012. Equipped with the much acclaimed six-speed dual clutch powershift automatic gearbox, Ford Fiesta AT is expected to step into the shoes of the premium segment sedans with the calibre equalled by Skoda Laura and Volkswagen Jetta in the D-segment.  However, it will be interesting to see how the auto major places the Ford Fiesta price of the diesel AT variant.
