Ford India witnesses groundbreaking sales in 2010

Ford India, last year witnessed record sales figure by delivering 83,887 car models from January to December, mostly accredited to the new launch the hatchback Ford Figo. Last year marked a more than a perfect finish to 2010 for the Indian auto industry by climbing up to 30 per cent, especially the international auto companies that launched its hatchbacks for instance Nissan came with Nissan Micra, Volkswagen with Volkswagen Polo. Ford also made land mark sales for the last year with the compact car Ford Figo.
As per the reports, Anurag Mehrotra, the Vice-President (Marketing) at Ford India Private Limited, was rejoiced with the new success and said that Ford India sold 83,887 car models from January to December 2010 which neared almost thrice the sales made in 2009 wherein the company was able to sell 29,488 cars. Mr Mehrotra was also quoted saying that for December, 2010 the sales went up to 172 per cent over December 2009.
Sources reveal that the auto company wishes to increase its sales and service network across India. Ford India has raised its dealership network from 100 to 170 to cater to the splurging demand for its car models in India.
Fprd Figo, the hatchback that is responsible for Ford's remarkable growth has won applaud for its looks as well as the technology. The car has been well accepted by the Indian buyers and has been crowed with India Car of the Year award (ICOTY 2011) and the Compact Car of the Year for 2010 by the Indian auto industry. Currently the hatchback is shipped to Nepal and South Africa. The parent company of Ford Motors based in US is expected to export the car in 48 other nations.
