It was only a month ago that Ford India signed a deal with the Gujarat government with reference to set up its manufacturing unit in the state and now Ford India is ready to develop a small and affordable car at its brand new plant situated at Sanand. This small car is being developed by Ford India which is expected to give a tough fight to popular hatchbacks like Maruti A-Star and Hyundi i10. The Sanand manufacturing unit of Ford India is located close to the Tata Nano’s manufacturing unit and will be amongst the huge export hubs of the car, besides Brazil and China.

According to the rumors floating in the Indian car market, this small car from Ford could be launched in India by the year of 2014 and will be probably priced around Rs. 3 to 4 Lakh. The new small car by Ford India will be positioned just below its hatchback car, Ford Figo. As per a spokesperson of Ford India, the company recently announced to bring on around 8 new products by the mid of decade exactly according to the needs of the Indian consumers. Of late, Ford India launched the retouched version of Ford Fiesta sedan, which is the first out of the 8 new products. The other announcements are in the pipeline. However, earlier Ford India had announced that the first product of the 8 new ones will come from the Sanand facility, but somehow it got a bit delayed.

Speculations suggest, Ford’s R&D development centre located in Brazil is right now in the middle of developing the small car and the firm is apparently approaching the Indian makers for the local manufacturing process. Ford India’s small and affordable car is known as B562 (codename) and will be built on a brand new platform. This car will be powered by 1 litre of ecoboost petrol motor. The small car from Ford will certainly be different and unique from other small cars in the market today and keep the capacity to challenge cars like Maruti A-Star, Hyundai i10 etc.
