Ford is back in action by launching new IKON

Today,Ford,US car maker company,has launched entry-level sedan 'Ikon' in India.The new Ford Ikon is not only sporting a slightly spruced up look but has the Duratorq diesel engine which does duty in the diesel Fiesta and Fusion.The new Ikon is available in two varients in market.One is diesel and another one is petroal varient.The Diesel variants would now be powered by 1.4 litre Duratorq TDCi engine which already made presence in Ford Fiesta and ford Fusion while the petrol variant would be powered by 1.3 litre RoCam engine.The new Ikon also boasts a freshened exterior design. The hood now has a sharper design and striking new headlamps along with an all new front bumper and larger lower grille.The Diesel varient would cost the coustomer Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi where as petroal varient would cost Rs 4.59 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi.
The new Ford Ikon comes with a two-year/100,000km warranty and is available in 7 colours - Diamond White, Panther Black, Moondust Silver, Paprika Red, Platinum, Brush Steel and a new colour Morello.The Company Officials said.
'We have started with diesel engines but once our Chennai plant goes full steam in 2010, we may look at manufacturing petrol engines as well,” said Nigel E Wark, executive director (sales and marketing), Ford India.
President Michael Boneham said The new Ford Ikon continues to be a leader in its segment and caters to customers with a combination of superior fuel efficiency and improved engine performance,He also adds The company would launch a new small car in India in 2010.
