Automotive giant Ford has specially shipped the Mustang Shelby GT500 from the States to appear in the Goodwood Uphill race as a tribute to the late Carroll Shelby. Powered by an aluminium 5.8-litre supercharged V8 engine, the Ford GT500 produces a peak power of 662bhp and a mind-boggling torque of 854Nm. This is in fact America's most powerful production car engine.
In addition to this, the Ford Mustang GT500 was specially equipped at Goodwood with the optional Performance Package incorporating electronically adjustable dampers and a Torsen limited-slip differential. This came along with yet another Track Package to give the car that competitive race-track edge. The American version comes with Brembo six-piston front caliper brake system and an updated gearing system for traction and suspension tuning. The grille on the GT500 is designed for perfect downward force management; a quad-exhaust system also comes into play along with aluminium wheels.
