Ford New Ikon manufacturing discontinued

Ford New Ikon one of the most popular mid size sedan production has been stopped by Ford India. The company last year announced that it will not bring BS IV of this popular car and BS III version will be available only in tier II and tier III cities, now production for the car has finally been stopped. New Ford Ikon hit the Indian shores in 1999 and since then was quite popular in the respective segment.

The company did not disclosed the reasons for this stoppage but it is expected that Ford wishes to push forward its new Ford Fiesta which is its another popular car model in domestic market. Ford India is getting buzz response and its more than 1 lakh cars have been sold till now. The US auto giant is so overwhelmed that as a mark of celebration, it recently launched Ford Fiesta Classic version which is equipped some new features, specs and impressive appearance.

Ford New Ikon comes in Ford's largest selling cars category which is available with BS III engine only in Tier II and III cities as Marui 800. The car was manufactured at its Chennai plant but now the production has been finally stopped. Ford New Ikon is available in both Petrol and Diesel engine variant. The Petrol engine variant of car comes loaded with a 1.3L, In-line Rocam 1297 cc engine that generates power of 70 PS and top torque of 105 Nm. Meanwhile its Diesel engine variant is also having powerful heart of 1.3L 69bhp 1.4L, 4 cylinder, In-line TDCi, 1399 cc that deliver top power of 68PS and max torque of 160 Nm. Both variants of this car are very fuel efficient and in terms of power, mileage and performance. They will compete against Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Mahindra Renault Logan, Tata Indigo CS etc. It's a CNG variant was also introduced in India which is available only in select cities.

On the other hand Ford is going to launch its new 2011 Ford Fiesta in Delhi and as per the speculations and this new car would be followed by Ford Fiesta Classic. It will also available in both Petrol and Diesel engine variant along with enhanced features, specs and impressive appearance, So ready to keep it up.
