Ford recalls Windstar models from US, Canada owing to its corrosion

2011 has not kick started well for Ford as the auto giant sales are moving at a slow speed. Last year it witnessed that there were some of the biggest recalls from the auto giants due to the safety issues which has severely hurt the company's reputation. The first recall for 2011 by Ford Motors the US auto giant is announced as it is all set to recall as many as 5,25,000 of its older car model Windstar, the minivans from the cold areas because of the corrosion which can result into separation of the parts in the vans which may reduce the control on the steering wheels.
As per the reports, as many as 4,25,000 Windstars are recalled in US and around 100,000 models in Canada and 750 models in various other countries. The company has registered around seven accidents which include five minor injuries among which the drivers report that corrosion was one of the responsible factors for the accidents. The Windstar minivans models in question date back to year 1999 to 2003. As per the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in US the minivans from 22 states and the District of Columbia will be called back.
NHTSA states that it has received 87 complaints against Ford due to corrosion related failures in the front frame. Ford also received 74 unique accidents report for the last month. Ford has already said that the owners of Windstars have been asked to bring their vehicles at the respective dealerships for checking and the repair.
