American automaker Ford, has been felicitated by Ethisphere Institute as the “‘World's Most Ethical Company”’. The company made its way to the 2016 ‘World's Most Ethical Companies’ list by Ethisphere. This is Ford’s seventh consecutive incorporation into the ‘World’s Most Ethical Companies’ list, and it is all the more special, as Ford is the only company to have been featured on this list.
Commenting on this achievement, Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company, Mr. Bill Ford said, "This honour celebrates our employees who are committed to doing the right things and making the right choices. Ethics and corporate citizenship are the foundation of what drives us to make people's lives better."
Companies in contention for this title are evaluated on the standard of business practices, which are then judged on the basis of their ethicality. The candidates are also evaluated under categories such as - ethics and compliance, corporate citizenship and responsibilities, reputation and culture of ethics, as well as governance and leadership.
In light of the recent controversies that shook the automotive industry, namely Volkswagen group’s the Dieselgate scandal and the Tesla Motor Company’s Autopilot failure, this accolade of Ford bodes well for the company's future in the international market. The customer's faith in the company and in its products will strengthen as a result of this honour. Commenting on the same, Timothy Erblich, Ethisphere's chief executive officer, said, "Ford understands that trust is the cornerstone of everything it does, and their commitment to being an active part of a global community helps explain why they are the only automaker Ethisphere has recognised every year since 2010 .”
