The ‘Blue Oval’ company’s next global SUV – Everest for the Asian markets is probably our Endeavour’s replacement. The new SUV is coming next year and will replace the Endeavour in India that has been selling for over a decade now. The current Endeavour has not received any major overhaul ever since its inception in our market in 2003. Speaking about the images, the next-gen Endeavour will be based on the almost-production-ready Everest concept that the company showcased earlier.
About the upcoming SUV, it is developed by Ford of Australia as Ford’s next global SUV for the Asia Pacific market. Moreover, the Endeavour that we are getting in India currently is known as Everest in our neighbouring markets. Furthermore, company quotes that this new product has been carved out of customer needs and aspirations from a mid-size luxury SUV. Ford says – this is the "most comprehensively researched vehicle Ford has ever created in the Asia-Pacific region."
Jim Holland, Engineering Director, Ford Asia Pacific, reveals about the new Everest\Endeavour, “When we looked at the market, we saw an opportunity to serve a new group of customers with a rugged and refined SUV that’s equally at home both on- and off-road.” He further added, “We’ve risen to the challenge by making full use of our global One Ford expertise. We’ve created a vehicle that redefines expectations in its segment, builds on our segment leadership and strengthens our global SUV line-up. We expect it to play an important role in our growth strategy as we continue to launch small, medium and large utility vehicles around the world.”
The company says that they have built around 200 prototypes for testing purpose and as of now they have covered over 1 million kilometres, testing in almost every extreme conditions available. Speaking about the powertrains, expect revised powerful powertrains for the new Endeavour. Moreover, company says its very aerodynamic and possess one of the lowest drag coefficients in its segment; so the new SUV is likely to be modest when it comes to fuel consumption!
