Ford to roll out more small cars in China and India

According to recent updates, Top official of Ford Motor Co operations in Asia said that company is going to accomplish its goals of expansion in China and India by increasing the product range. Ford executive Joe Hinrichs said that in coming years Ford Motors will release wide range of small cars in China and India and those cars will be smaller compared to its subcompact Ford Fiesta. This in turn indicates that company will earn less margin per car.

He added that for making profit, Ford Motors will sell good volume of small cars. Hinrichs said that Ford understands that Ford has to come up with big product range if company wants to grow business and stay competitive in Chinese market. According to sources, Ford Motors is going to release 15 cars in China by 2015, compared to six car models currently running on Chinese roads. Hinrichs said that company needs to and is going to augment its presence in the small car segment of Chinese car maker which delivers 70 percent of sales.

It is worth mentioning that Ford Motors currently has just one car i.e. Ford Fiesta which is popular in the Chinese market. Hinrichs did not comment on the number of small cars, company is expected to release from its 15 cars in Chinese market by 2015. On the point of selling small cars at competitive price in China, Hinrichs said that company is reducing the price by $1000 from the cost of its popular Indian subcompact car Ford Ford Figo. Earlier it was said that Company was going to sell Ford Figo in 50 countries which included Gulf countries and Northern Africa after its launch in India in 2010. However, regarding slow start of Ford, Hinrichs said that due to bad financial conditions before 2009 which left the company with low cash, Ford was unable to expand in terms of factories and dealership network in the countries with emerging economy.
