Ford to stress on diesel cars in India

As the petrol prices in the country are increasing at regular intervals, many of the automobile brands at present date are mainly concentrating to manufacture diesel cars for the Indian car market. Ford India is also going on the same line, as they will focus mainly on launching diesel cars in India.

Nigel Wark Executive director Ford India told the reporters that due to the recent petrol hikes in the country the demand for the diesel cars is increasing, so they will concentrate on the manufacturing of diesel cars. He further added that the company had planned to announce the manufacturing of eight new cars by next year and they will be on diesel platform. Due to their main focus on the manufacturing of diesel cars it has created a lot of burden on the company.

Last year in 2010, Ford India was able to sell out  83,000 cars in the market, but in this year at present date the company has already sold 58,000 cars. The company is surely going to cross the one lakh mark by the end of this year if the sales continue in this manner.At present date the company's major sales is driven from the small car named Ford Figo. This small car was launched in 2010 and is now being exported to 50 countries.

Out of the new cars to be launched in India, the first one to be launched is the refreshed version of Ford Fiesta which is likely to be launched in July. The new Ford Fiesta is likely to be launched in the month of July and is expected to be equipped with new advanced features.

This sedan was unveiled in Bangalore a few days ago. The company currently has Ford Fiesta, Ford Endeavour and Ford Figo under its portfolio in India. Ford Fiesta is expected to give a tight competition to the other cars like Skoda Superb, Maruti Swift Dzire among the sedan cars in India, however its popular SUV Ford Endeavour is giving a cut throat competition to  Honda CR-V, Toyota Innova. Apart from this the company's flagship, Ford Figo which has proved to be a huge success in the small car segment in India gave a blow to the market leader Maruti India's popular hatchback Maruti Swift along with Hyundai i20  and the likes. The company is expecting its refreshed saloon Ford Fiesta to get an overwhelming response and is all geared up for the launch next month.
